Plumber jobs in the Netherlands include domestic installations, commercial building services, and water, drainage and heating work. Reviewed vacancies advertise €525 to €700 net per week for experienced applicants, with conditions varying by recruiter. Trade experience, technical drawing skills and safety certification can matter. Applicants without existing Dutch work rights generally need an employer willing to support work authorization. Below, you will find direct application links, qualification guidance and the distinction between international recruitment and confirmed permit sponsorship. DK Recruitment Services
1. Plumber jobs and salary
These are advertised vacancy rates, not national salary averages. All amounts are in euros.
| Job and recruiter | Advertised pay | Typical requirements |
|---|---|---|
| Domestic plumber, Skills Provision | €525 to €575 net/week, 40 hours | Four years’ experience; VCA or SCC; intermediate English |
| Installation plumber, DK Recruitment Services | €600 to €700 net/week, 40 hours | Two years’ experience; drawing skills; English or German |
| Utility plumber, Haldu Groep | Up to €690/week, 40 hours; gross/net unspecified | Proven experience; English or German; VCA or willingness to obtain it |
The highest Haldu rate requires at least three years’ experience in the Netherlands, relevant VCA certification and an own car. It should not be treated as a starting salary for a newly arriving worker. Skills Provision
Before comparing offers, request the gross hourly wage, guaranteed hours, holiday pay treatment and itemised deductions. Ask whether housing, insurance and transport are included in the quoted take-home figure. A weekly net advertisement alone does not show the full employment package.
2. Which plumbing jobs match your experience?
Domestic installation and renovation
This work suits applicants experienced in water supply, drainage, sanitary fittings, pipe cutting and joining. The reviewed domestic vacancy requires independent working ability supported by four years of experience. Skills Provision
Commercial building services
Utility plumbing concerns buildings such as hospitals, offices and schools. Haldu’s vacancy includes technical drawings, copper and steel pipework, sanitary installations and heating systems. Applicants should describe comparable projects rather than listing only “general plumbing.” Haldu Groep
Beginners and plumbing assistants
The vacancies reviewed here are experienced-worker positions. Applicants with only classroom training should search separately for leerling loodgieter or hulpmonteur roles and check their training and work-right requirements.
Hypothetical example: Someone with five years installing bathrooms and drainage should prioritise domestic installation vacancies. Someone experienced in large commercial pipework should demonstrate drawing interpretation, materials used and project responsibilities.
Qualifications and specialist certificates
Ask employers whether they require a trade diploma, an apprenticeship certificate or a Dutch diploma evaluation. IDW credential evaluation compares overseas qualifications with Dutch education levels. It does not itself grant permission to work. idw.nl
VCA is a safety qualification frequently requested in these vacancies. Specialist gas work has additional rules: under the Dutch CO certification system, relevant engineers need proof of competence, and the installation company must hold the required certification. Overseas plumbing experience alone does not authorise gas-boiler servicing. business.gov.nl
3. Where to find legitimate plumber vacancies
The following listings were accessible on the research date. Availability can change.
Skills Provision: international recruitment, sponsorship unconfirmed
The Domestic Plumber vacancy advertises €525 to €575 net weekly, accommodation and health-insurance registration. Applications are submitted in English through a candidate account.
The agency describes international recruitment and does not exclude applicants by nationality. However, the advertisement does not explicitly promise a Dutch work permit application. Its displayed closing date is 27 October 2026. Ask about non-EU eligibility before paying for documents or travel. Skills Provision
DK Recruitment Services: overseas recruitment with existing-work-right conditions
The Plumbers vacancy and application form advertises €600 to €700 net weekly, accommodation and relocation assistance.
Its requirements include an EU passport or what it calls a “valid EU work permit.” That wording needs clarification: an ordinary permit from another EU country does not automatically establish Dutch work rights. Treat relocation support as separate from permit sponsorship. DK Recruitment Services
Haldu Groep: international support, existing rights required
The Utility Plumber vacancy offers accommodation and international HR assistance. Its application form explicitly says applicants without the required passport or work permit cannot be offered a job.
The published recruiter contact is c.aronivilca@haldugroep.nl, telephone +31 6 10865814. Apply through the vacancy page and verify any subsequent message against the company’s published details. Haldu Groep
Confirmed new permit sponsorship: None of these reviewed advertisements explicitly confirms sponsorship for a plumber applying from outside the EU without existing Dutch work rights.
4. How employer-supported work authorization works
EU, EEA and Swiss nationals can generally work in the Netherlands without a work permit. Other applicants must check their nationality and existing residence status. government.nl
For a typical non-EU plumbing appointment lasting more than 90 days, the relevant route is usually the GVVA, a combined residence and work permit.
Understand the separate documents:
- Job offer: The employer’s proposed employment terms. It does not authorise work.
- GVVA: Permission combining residence and employment authorization.
- TWV: A separate work permit, used in situations including many appointments of no more than 90 days.
- MVV: A long-stay entry visa required for certain nationalities and circumstances.
The Netherlands does not use Canada’s LMIA system. Dutch applications involve the IND immigration authority and, where applicable, UWV’s labour-market assessment. IND
For regular recruitment, UWV says employers must first seek suitable workers in the EU/EEA or Switzerland for at least three months and notify UWV of the vacancy at least five weeks before applying. This is why a shortage of plumbers does not automatically produce an approved permit. UWV
The IND’s GVVA guidance explains employer-led applications, including combined MVV applications where required. A worker can also apply in specified circumstances, but employer evidence remains essential.
5. Eligibility, documents and likely costs
Prepare a practical employment file:
- Valid passport and a detailed CV.
- Trade diplomas, apprenticeship records and training certificates.
- References confirming employment dates and duties.
- Evidence of relevant plumbing experience.
- Requested safety certificates and driving licence.
- Contract or employer declaration, plus application-specific immigration documents.
UWV’s regular-employment guidance lists qualifications, translations and a Dutch credential evaluation among the employer’s supporting documents. Check the applicable checklist before commissioning an evaluation. UWV
Worker expenses
Potential expenses include passport renewal, translations, legalisation, travel and initial living costs. These vary by country and contract.
IDW currently lists €148.83 for one diploma evaluation. Confirm whether it is needed and who pays before ordering it. idw.nl
Application fee and employer responsibilities
The standard GVVA application fee listed by IND is €423. If the employer pays this fee, IND says it cannot charge it back to the worker.
The employer must meet applicable pay conditions, provide labour-market evidence and arrange suitable housing. Housing arrangements do not necessarily mean accommodation is free. IND
Ask for written terms covering accommodation charges, insurance, transport, tools and any training repayment clause.
6. Can plumbing work lead to permanent residence?
There is no separate plumber permanent-residence programme.
Under the IND’s regular permanent-residence rules, applicants generally need five consecutive years of valid Dutch residence, timely renewals, continued compliance with permit conditions and a current non-temporary residence purpose.
Other requirements include sufficient income, municipal registration and passing the civic integration examination at least at A2 level, unless exempt. IND also assesses eligibility for EU long-term resident status. A plumbing contract alone does not guarantee either outcome. IND
7. How to apply, step by step
- Check your work-right position. Establish whether you already have Dutch labour-market access or need employer-supported authorization.
- Choose a matching vacancy. Search loodgieter, installatiemonteur and sanitairmonteur, then check the actual duties.
- Tailor your CV. State years of experience, pipe materials, installation methods, drawing skills, languages and certificates.
- Ask about permits early. Use a direct question: “Will your company support a GVVA application for an applicant who currently has no Dutch work permit?”
- Verify the offer. Confirm the legal employer, work location, gross pay, hours, deductions and housing terms.
- Follow the official application route. Use IND instructions and the relevant application checklist.
- Confirm permission before starting. Check that the issued authorization covers your employer and work.
IND normally has a 90-day decision period for a GVVA application, with extensions possible. Recruitment and document preparation add time before that application stage. IND
8. Common mistakes and job-offer checks
Mistaking accommodation for sponsorship. Housing, airport collection and registration assistance do not establish that an employer will obtain a permit.
Assuming another EU permit transfers automatically. Ask which Dutch authorization or exemption permits the proposed work.
Comparing net salaries without deductions. Request a written gross-pay breakdown and an explanation of housing, insurance and transport charges.
Trusting a company name without checking the sender. Look up the legal employer in the Dutch Commercial Register, then contact it through independently obtained details.
Warning signs include guaranteed approval, pressure to pay immediately, payments to personal accounts and refusal to identify the contractual employer. Never treat a recruitment agent’s message as an immigration decision.
9. Frequently asked questions
Can I apply if I speak English but no Dutch?
Some reviewed vacancies accept English or German. DK specifies approximately B1 communication ability. Check the actual project language before accepting an offer. DK Recruitment Services
Does VCA replace my plumbing qualification?
No. VCA concerns workplace safety. Employers assess technical competence separately through experience, references, qualifications and potentially practical assessment. business.gov.nl
Can a plumber install heat pumps without further certification?
Do not assume so. Work involving regulated refrigerants can require additional personnel and company certification. Check the Dutch refrigerant certification rules against your intended duties. business.gov.nl
Can I travel as a visitor and start while the permit is processed?
A visitor visa does not itself authorise plumbing employment. Short assignments can still require a TWV, even where a short-stay visa is unnecessary. IND

- Match your experience to the advertised duties.
- Confirm eligibility before spending money.
- Obtain written confirmation of any permit support.
- Compare gross pay, hours and deductions.
- Verify the employer and contract.
- Follow IND instructions before travelling or starting work.
